This track is for students who are interested in inspiring the next generation through education at the secondary level. With the FCS specialty certification in Hospitality, Nutrition, and Food Sciences candidates are prepared to teach a variety of courses within the Hospitality and Tourism Program of Study. Classes include Culinary Arts and Food Science. There is currently a nationwide shortage of FCS teachers and Culinary Arts is a fast growing, and popular aspect of the profession. Beginning FCS teachers in Texas start at above $50,000 for a nine-month contract with benefits and retirement plan. For more information about the teacher certification track, please contact Dr. Sandra Duke, FCS Teacher Coordinator.
