Minor in Nutrition
How can a minor in nutrition support your goals?
Learning about how nutrition impacts health and supports disease prevention can enhance any major. By selecting this minor, you can expect to learn about:

A nutrition minor will provide you with the tools needed for future jobs in a variety of medical professions (pre-med, nursing, psychology, etc), athletics, personal training, physical therapy, and public health.
The nutrition minor is open to students at Texas State in any major. The program especially complements the following:
- Nursing
- Exercise and Sports Science
- Physical Therapy
- Psychology
- Agriculture
- Health Sciences
- Public Health
- Biology
- Chemistry
The minor in Nutrition requires 18-19 semester credit hours, depending on the student's major and on which courses are selected from the minor options. This is a science-based minor that requires that some biology and chemistry prerequisites must be completed. Because many of the nutrition courses require science prerequisites, the total hours for the minor may vary depending on what courses the student has completed as part of their major or has satisfied as part of the general education core curriculum.
