International Textile and Apparel Association
Over the week in Long beach, we reviewed newly presented research from faculty at other international universities and of other undergraduate students, to view newly developed clothing designs and prototypes for new technologies surrounding fashion, and as we spent our week, we had the opportunity to see our personal faculty including Dr. Liang, Dr. Martinez, and of course Dr. Hustvedt present their research over the past year. This opportunity really allowed us to learn how to network and navigate our professional life in a positive environment.
Eduardo Avila, Liliana Eyster, and Killian Arthur showed an oral presentation regarding "exploring sustainable fashion habits of first year college students: a wardrobe study". Which reviewed the consumption and sustainability habits that first year students (freshmen) exhibit while going through their first year in college. We got a positive response and had many researchers coming up to us to complement our work which gave us an opportunity to network.
Later in the week we presented a poster presentation regarding Styling for All: Strategies for Effective Fashion Styling in Cross-Generational Online Sales. Which provided a guide for multigenerational consumers to use when reselling their garments. This went quite well, and it offered us an opportunity to communicate with a bunch of professors all around the globe. We were able to ask them questions about their universities and we were able to gain connections through that.
ITAA is the International Textile and Apparel Association and we attended their 2024 Annual Conference. Their goal is to advance excellence in education, scholarship, and innovation. They provided a fantastic lineup of speakers, salon sessions, research presentations, and workshops to help those in the industry stay informed of the new trends as well as the challenges occurring.
